Are you looking for the perfect spot to take your Rover or Fido to play? Look no further! We’ve identified the top Columbus spots right here, so read on to learn why it’s important to take your dog to the park periodically, and where to go when you take him.
There are plenty of great reasons to take your dog to the park. For one thing, it’s an awesome way for your dog to burn off extra energy. In fact, consider a dog park visit a must if you have an energetic puppy.
A dog park also helps dogs get their exercise in. This can be especially challenging, particularly for apartment-bound pups, so we recommend visiting the park when you can. Your dog will love being able to run around, play fetch, and socialize with other canines.
Finally, your dog loves, loves, LOVES these bonding sessions. By regularly playing with them at the park, you’re deepening your connection with “man’s best friend”—always a worthwhile endeavor.
Finally, did we mention that Columbus has some of the coolest dog parks around? It does! Keep reading to learn our favorites.
Here are our favorite parks:
Wheeler Memorial Dog Park
725 Thurber Drive W, Columbus
You’ll love Wheeler Memorial Dog Park for its spacious 4+ acres, separate play areas for large and small dogs, and water pumps that are available from spring through fall. The park also features picnic tables and benches, in case your dog manages to tire you out!
Godown Park
6099 Godown Road, Columbus
Godown Park consists of a whopping 10 acres, so you and your dog will never get tired of exploring. For small dogs, there’s a one-acre play area, and larger dogs have been allotted a 4-1/2 acre area to romp in. Plus, this beautiful dog park contains benches, a dog water fountain, and attractive pathways winding through the park. Pet parents in particular will appreciate the paved parking lot!
Scioto Audubon Park
400 W Whittier Street, Columbus
Consider Scioto Audubon Park not just a playground for your dog, but for you as well! This park offers nature trails, a climbing wall, volleyball courts, fishing, and more. But your dog will love it for the 2-1/2 acre dog park, separate play areas for large/small dogs, and its agility course. Open until 8 p.m. from October to March, this dog park is not to be missed!
We sure do. Pet Palace Resort is the perfect place to help your dog socialize while getting his exercise in! For instance, if your dog doesn’t like being left home alone, we offer a fun dog day care that will keep them entertained while you’re at work.
And heck, if your dog’s more of the “royal” type, you can even bring them in for a spa day. We offer professional grooming, and if your dog’s especially fancy they can even get fully pampered with a massage!
You’ll be happy to hear that we have a wide selection of locations, so if you’re in the area we’d love to meet your furry friend! Our locations for the Columbus area include:
