Why Boarding is Better Than Having a Friend Watch Your Dog

Playful Puppy at Dog BoardingAs we continue through the summer, there are many people who are taking long vacations away from home to visit new places, friends and family. For some people, taking their dog on vacation is a must, but for others, it is simply not an option. Maybe the hotel is not pet friendly or maybe your dog gets car sick and you would rather not put them through the anxiety of travel. Whatever the reason may be for not taking your pup on the family vacation, we know it is important to make arrangements for him while you are gone.

Usually the first thing many people think of when looking for pet care while they are gone is to reach out to a friend or family member. However, this is not always the best option. We want to explain to you why dog boarding is better than having your friend watch your dog.

What is Dog Boarding?

Dog boarding has been around for several decades now, but it has become increasingly popular over the last few years as people are now taking longer, more frequent trips and are looking for more ideal care for their furry friends. Instead of leaving their dogs with a friend, they are taking them to a boarding facility where they get around-the-clock care in a hotel-like setting. Think of this as a little vacation for your dog!

What are the Advantages to Boarding My Dog?

Pets can sometimes get anxious when we are away, and having a stranger come into their home can actually make that anxiety even worse. It is important to understand that there are many benefits that come from boarding your pet.

Advantage #1: Zero Liability- Having your friend watch your pet while you are away may seem like a convenient option, but that is not always the case. If you have your friend in your house and your dog feels uneasy or scared, he or she may bite or even attack your friend. Remember, this person is unfamiliar in their home and you do not want to be liable for anything that could happen. When you board your pet, you can rest assured knowing that your most precious asset (your pet) is in good hands and that you do not have to worry any possible accidents in your home.

Advantage #2: Pet Security- Maybe your friend stops over for a few minutes or even hours after work, but eventually, they will leave to go back to their home. What happens if there is an accident at your home and no one is there to help your pet? This is a scenario that no pet owner wants to think about, but the truth is, it can happen. By boarding your dog, you can feel at peace knowing that they will be safe and secure while you are gone. Nothing is worse than not knowing what is happening at home with your pet while you are away. One bonus is that we offer a webcam that connects you to your pup so you can keep an eye on him from wherever you are!

Advantage #3: Around the Clock Care– So you might save a few bucks by having your friend come by and let your pup out, but how do you know they are getting the care they need when they stop by? When you choose dog boarding, you can rest assured that your beloved pet is in the best hands, getting around the clock care. Just like we can get sick, so can our pets, and nothing would ruin your vacation more than knowing your dog was not getting the best care while he or she was sick and you are out of town. When you board your pet with Pet Palace, we make sure they get plenty of exercise and play time, personal attention (medications taken on schedule, fed, bathed) and that they have their own climate controlled pet suite for a little peace and quiet.

We know that leaving your pet can cause some anxiety for you and your pup, but we want you to know that when you choose to board your dog during your vacation, you truly can have the peace of mind knowing they will be happy and safe. Think of it as a little getaway for your pup too! For more information on pricing and availability, check us out here!
